Seal Rock Man Charged With Theft

On Friday, Nov. 15, 2013 at 9:30 a.m., a Newport resident called the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office to report her cell phone had been taken from the Waldport Campus of the Oregon Coast Community College. The woman explained she had forgotten her phone plugged into a wall charger when she left her night class on Nov. 13. She said the phone was no longer there when she returned.

An investigation, which included reviewing campus video surveillance and tracking the use of the stolen phone, led to a night custodian, Nicholas Allen Engle, 35, of Seal Rock, as a suspect. Deputies contacted Engle at his residence and recovered the stolen phone.

Engle was transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he was cited and released for Theft II.
